What’s in Your Camp Store?

May 9, 2024

Managing a camp store or gift shop may seem like a lot of added work to take on, but its an excellent way to add extra revenue to your camp! It can also:

  • Help generate excitement (by revealing or releasing exclusive seasonal gear)
  • Give campers the option of added keepsakes to treasure fond memories
  • Encourage loyalty for returning campers

But of course, a major part of running a camp store is finding the right items to sell, so you don’t end up with a bunch of items collecting dust on a shelf. Some camps opt to use third-party camp store tools that will create and ship products on demand. But nothing quite drives sales like that last-minute stop at the gift shop as campers reluctantly prepare to leave for home.

In 2023, iCampPro distributed a survey to ask camps about their camp operations to glean some insights about camp industry trends. In it, we zeroed in on the all-important question, “What’s your camp’s most popular merchandise?”.

Here’s a list of items that camps said sold the best!

  • T-shirts
  • Sweatshirts/Hoodies
  • Sweatpants
  • Pajama Bottoms
  • Hats
  • Stuffed Animals
  • Stickers
  • Camp Journals
  • Friendship Jewelry
  • Keychains
  • Water Bottles
  • Photo Frames
  • Drawstring Bags
  • Duffle Bags
  • Backpacks
  • Buttons/Pins
