Choose an RFID Device

There are many RFID-enabled device options to choose from. Our team can help guide you toward compatible RFID chip devices and scanners. Wristbands and badges are the most popular options for camps, offering durable, kid-friendly functionality that integrates seamlessly with iCampPro.

Pair Devices to Registrations

Our Camper Bands work by enabling your team to pair a single camp registration with an RFID devices’ unique alpha-numeric device ID. Pairing can happen any time before or during camp events. Pairing each device takes less than 10 seconds, making it simple to manage — even during camper drop-off.

Repurpose RFID Devices

If sustainability and recycling are part of your camp’s mission, many affordable RFID devices can be re-used season after season. Some are even made out of more eco-friendly, sustainable materials. Our pairing system makes it effortless to assign, unassign, or replace your devices in seconds.

Speed Up Camp Store Checkout with RFID Wristbands

With younger campers, it can be tough to gather the details needed to look up their account. They may not know how to spell their name or recall a parent’s contact info. RFID wristbands solve this problem with instant, touch-free lookup — just scan to pull up their account details.

Connecting camp store purchases to camper registrations provides powerful insights into camper spending trends. Discover which items resonate with different age groups or programs to fine-tune your store inventory and operations.

Of course, not every sale has to be connected to a camper or RFID device. Find out more on our Camp Retail feature page.

The RFID Camper Bands feature pairs perfectly with iCampPro’s prepaid Camp Store Accounts and Point of Sale system. Families can add funds or reload each camper’s balance before and during camp. This allows young campers to make cashless purchases at the store, snack shack, or gift shop with a quick scan.

  • Does iCampPro Sell RFID Devices or Scanners?

No. iCampPro's software programming allows RFID chip devices with compatible, alpha-numeric ID’s to be used in combination with USB or Bluetooth connected RFID scanners with a keyboard emulation mode. We do not sell or provide the RFID devices or scanners. However, our team is happy to advise you on requirements and which providers our customers have reported success with ordering from in the past.

  • Can I Connect Other Camper Information or Systems to the RFID Devices?

RFID technology can be used in many ways, but iCampPro does not program RFID chips or sell programming equipment. While programming tools are available for purchase elsewhere, our team is unable to provide guidance on how to use them.

Currently, iCampPro can only recognize the RFID device’s ID number and link it to a camper’s registration. The software cannot directly track, scan, or store any other information on or from the RFID chip.

  • Will iCampPro’s RFID Camper Band Features Expand in the Future?

While we don’t have specific details to share, the future is full of possibilities!

RFID camper bands are just getting started. Affordable, easy to use, and screen-free, they’re already transforming the way camps operate. As more camps adopt them and share feedback, we’re excited to explore even more ways these bands can make camp life smoother, safer, and more fun. Got ideas? We’d love to hear them!

  • Does RFID Scanning Require Wi-Fi or Internet Access?

Yes. While RFID technology itself does not require internet to work, using it to perform a lookup in the iCampPro software does require a reliable internet connection.

  • What Happens If a Camper Loses Their RFID Device?

Lost devices happen at camp. It’s no problem! Since only the RFID devices’ unique ID is linked to the iCampPro software database and the RFID chip is not encoded or programmed with data from iCampPro, there is no inherent risk of exposing sensitive camper information if it is scanned outside of iCampPro. When reported to your staff, a lost device’s ID can simply be disconnected in the Camper Bands tool to remove any association with camper data.

To access any details about the camper who was assigned the device, a bad actor would have to obtain access to an iCampPro Admin Portal user’s login credentials for your account with the appropriate permissions to view the data while the device ID is still connected to the camper’s registration.
